Overview

It’s always exciting to help a new business get off the ground. That’s exactly what we did with Memory Lane Salon. As anyone in business knows, the planning and work that goes into launching a business is more than a full time job. Memory Lane Salon owner and founder, Misty Dawn, knows first hand the incredible amount of time and work it took to get her new salon opened.

Goals

She wanted to let her prospective clients know that her salon was coming and get people excited about the grand opening. It was important for Misty to have a website to inform people and act as a lead generation tool for new customers.

Website Redesign

Stylish & Fully Responsive

⎯⎯

Misty approached us to create a stylish and fully responsive website with an aim of showcasing their services and driving appointments. For Misty Dawn of Memory Lane, the thought of facing a website re-design amidst an ambitious expansion project was anything but relaxing. With the addition of a whole new line of aesthetics services, they knew they needed to step up their online presence as well as their overall branding to a level that was more inline with their progressively growing business.

Content

Luring in customers with remarkable digital content

⎯⎯

When designing the new Memory Lane website the two most important features to keep in mind were that the site must be responsive and in modern websites images are everything. Content is always important in any website and must not be overlooked. Clear, useful content detailing all relevant options to customers are emphasized by the glamorous images. A special, unique touch to the images will be noticed on the homepage with the use of changing box images to porthole images when options for the salon or hair section is highlighted.

Imagery

Memory Lane is a dynamic website that has a big impact thanks to its use of large, high quality images showcasing the best features of the business while balancing simplicity for the user and seamless transition to different displays for multiple devices. A hairdressing salon is a business that is centered on beauty and style, so fabulous imagery is even more important. Every aspect of the website must showcase beauty and the cutting edge modern style of the staff, their abilities, their products and the salon itself. Large, professional photos were a must for this website on almost every page, whether it was showcasing the team, the salon or the hairdressing options. These excellent images are balanced with the best content.

Alluring visuals and smart digital content work to command attention.

01

  On-Line Bookings

──

Salon clients can make bookings online which are confirmed back to the client by either an email or mobile txt. The online booking form allows the client to choose their stylist, colorist, service and preferred day and time. Salon hours, drop down calendar and thumbnail links to staff profiles are all handy and within reach to help the client make their choice.

02

  Services Pages

──

Eight individual services pages with each having their own sub-menu giving descriptions of the Salon’s services and relevant price lists. As part of the content management system of the site, all price lists are able to be edited and updated by the salon owner which ensures up-to-date content and cost-efficient site maintenance.

03

  Contact Page

──

The last page in the site is a contact page containing salon hours, contact details and salon address information plus an interactive Google map that will provide travel directions to the salon for first-time clients.

04

  Testimonials

──

The ability for clients to both read and post testimonials was a very important feature for Misty. The home page has a scrolling feed of client testimonials plus there's a full page version for uploading and showcasing.

Responive Layout

The overall look and feel of the site were updated and the site structure was also upgraded to a Responsive Web Design (RWD) format. No matter what type of device that a viewer is using (smartphone, tablet or laptop) to view the site, the size of the site will automatically resize itself into the best optimized version for that device’s screen size (a very important feature as a growing portion of potential audience are currently viewing websites on either a tablet or smartphone).

Mobile Optimized

The need for a mobile optimized design cannot be emphasized enough these days. How your website appears on different devices and the user experience it delivers, whether your customers are looking for you on a mobile, tablet or desktop, is becoming increasingly important. It is not simply a matter of a website working on a mobile, it must also adapt its format seamlessly so that it delivers an optimal user experience regardless of device.

Mobile friendly design that doesn't exclude certain screens.

Digital Marketing

Cultivating brand awareness

⎯⎯

Salon owner, Misty Dawn, approached AR Digital Design wanting to increase site traffic and new viewers to their salon website, as well as raise their SEO profile in a Google search. AR Digital Design’s redesigned salon website was is well structured with decent imagery, salon related content and stylist profiles as well as having a convenient online booking system, but needed a boost in site traffic.

SEO + Social

An SEO (search engine optimized) optimized website that integrates with Memory Lane’s social media and is user-friendly for both staff and clients to upload and engage content.

Integrated social media site with the salon site to create a synchronized online web presence.
Renamed the site’s URL address to improve a Google search.
Featured product spotlights to generate more traffic

Memory Lane represents what all high-quality websites should aim for, it is all about simplicity and elegance rather than self-indulgent design. The most important aspects are showcasing the best of the business and putting the client’s needs first.
